• Gold rate today - Overnight gold hit the headlines by making a new record high and record closing level. Gold closed at $1423, reaching a high of $1427 at one point.

• Gold often struggles are record high levels, but yesterday the precious metal failed to close above the previous record high of $1424, which could indicate there there may be another, push higher in the next week.
